Websites that sell-sell-sell really push for the daily posting. In fact they send you stuff all the time. My email basket is full of offers to become rich, better looking, meet the right person and solve all of my problems. Several folks have emailed a comment or two about the delay in posting. The technical folks warn of losing placement on the search engines.
But this site is for a limited number of very extraordinary folks from all over the world. I am never going to get rich on the relative few of you but my real goal is to help a number of you met your Biggest Lifetime Goal (BLT). We want you to not drop out or quit too early.
Returning to your home for a weekend while living away at school you gathered strength from your family, advice from your parents and sucked up every bit of food and money you could carry back to your dormitory. Visiting our website is the same experience. While at home visiting you pick up ideas from others who can help you and review what helped you to excel in high school and other areas of your life. The same process goes on here as you quietly read a new article or re-read an old one picking up even more knowledge. Slowly over time I will get more and more of it out to you. Perhaps one of the other contributors will retire and actually do more than tell me what to add or edit. You see in every dream there are those that do the work and those that tell those who do the work to work harder and “Oh, I would have written that differently!” But even those folks dearly want you to succeed and not give up.
So with all sorts or new Federal rules, a new software system and the loss of some key staff I am trying to get more out to you. I also have to work on my second job of teaching graduate students. If you are in a real hurry than spring for the seven bucks or whatever they set the e-book at and purchase that. It has the framework we started with a number of years ago when we came up with this feverish dream to save a few more doctoral students from walking away from the degree. We just all got very busy and I finally said to heck with it I am going to get this started and we can all get on it once we retire. But no one is that comfortable with our retirement savings and so everyone got busier as the work force got leaner.
Read the past articles over again and really think about them. The information is from various doctoral students who either made it or did not. They were very generous to share with you and it is done out of love and a hope that you succeed. Well except for that one female that wanted to scratch my eyes out or the guy I thought might actually hit me when I asked about the doctoral student experience. They had so much pent up anger- quite dramatic.
In a few years I will retire and we will join everyone else trying to get your email so we can pester you with offers, invitations and words from our sponsors. Maybe we can even drive the numbers high enough to get sponsors. Well, probably not since we do not care about that. We will serve you for a while then close up and be gone for good. All of this will disappear and not be there for future folks struggling with the doctoral degree. Each month I wonder if the money I use to keep this open would be better spent on me. Example the bank charges me $5.00 a month to keep open a checking account. That is money that could go to pay for my satellite TV. But then I think back to my doctoral student years and the lack of guidance and the feeling of being alone. You are not alone, at least not for now.
For those I have not answered your email, sorry just pressed for time, we lost some staff and I have picked up part of their duties until we can replace them. I really wish you all the very best in your degree program. It really is nice to graduate and get a really cool job with everyone calling you by the title that you worked so long to earn. Plus once you have your doctorate they sit you down and tell you the meaning of life, where Elvis really is living (I was surprised he lived so close to me) and the whole lead into gold thing was much easier than I ever imagined. So until next time:
Mind your goals,
Dr. Parker
Editors-You were all busy so I just sent it out-live with it
